This poem does not tell a lie! The whole poem has true facts because things have changed, good and bad. This reading reminded me that not only are we sometimes selfish today but back then people were a bit selfish and crucial to one another based on skin color compared to how the society is today.
Sure we have more laws today but back then citizens were more rude to others based on their race and today some Americans are not at all like that.
I just wanted to say that I agree with you most of the time intentionally or not we can all be selfish to one another, which the poem " Americans's Story" discusses. Great Job Michelle!
